sacroiliitis (say-kroh-il-i-I-tis) n. inflammation of the sacroiliac joint. Involvement of both joints is a common feature of ankylosing spondylitis and associated rheumatic diseases. The resultant low back pain and stiffness may be alleviated by rest and by the use of anti-inflammatory analgesics.
