polyarteritis nodosa (periarteritis nodosa) (poli-ar-ter-I-tis noh-doh-să) n. a disease of unknown cause in which there is patchy inflammation of the walls of the arteries. It is one of the connective-tissue diseases. Common manifestations include arthritis, skin rashes, asthma, hypertension, and kidney failure.
