mycoplasma (my-koh-plaz-mă) n. one of a group of minute non-motile microorganisms that lack a rigid cell wall and hence display a variety of forms. The species Mycoplasma pneumoniae causes atypical pneumonia. The group also includes the pleuropneumonia-like organisms (PPLO).
