ecthyma
ecthyma (ek-th'y-mă) n. an infection of the skin, usually caused by both Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus, in which the full thickness of the epidermis is involved (compare impetigo). Ecthyma heals slowly and causes scarring.
