Churg-Strauss syndrome

Churg-Strauss syndrome (cherg-strows) n. a clinical syndrome comprising severe asthma associated with an increased eosinophil count in the peripheral blood and eosinophilic deposits in the small vessels of the lungs. It usually responds to oral corticosteroids. Untreated, it may result in severe and widespread systemic angiitis. [ J. Churg (1910– ) and L. Strauss (1913–85), US pathologists]
