LIPSON, Milton 1913-2003


OBITUARY NOTICE—See index for CA sketch: Born February 3, 1913, in New York, NY; died January 22, 2003, in Glen Cove, NY. Lawyer, investigator, government agent, security officer, and author. Lipson began his career as a welfare fraud investigator for the city of New York. After earning his law degree, he spent several years as a U.S. secret service agent assigned as a bodyguard to presidents, including Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S Truman. Lipson practiced law from 1946 until shortly before his death. He also worked as the head of a municipal investigation commission in Nassau Country, New York, in the 1960s and as an assistant district attorney and official of the Corruption Bureau of Mineola, New York, in the 1970s and 1980s. From 1962 to 1966 Lipson was a vice president for corporate security for the American Express Company in New York City. He was the author of On Guard: The Business of Private Security.
