PERSONAL:

Born December 17, 1817, in Bratton-Heming, England; immigrated to Canada, 1855; died May 6, 1913, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; son of John Cridge; married Mary Winnell (an educator and administrator), c. 1854. Education: St. Peter's College, Cambridge, B.A., 1848.

CAREER:

Ordained priest of Church of England, 1849; curate of Christ Church, Stratford, England, c.1849-54; Hudson's Bay Co., Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, chaplain, 1854; Christ Church, Victoria, British Columbia, began as pastor, became senior minister, 1856-65, dean of Christ Church Cathedral, 1865-74; suspended from ministry, 1874; Reformed Episcopal Church in Canada, consecrated bishop for Canada and the United States west of the Rocky Mountains, 1875-1913.
