SIDELIGHTS: Author and editor Isabel Anders has had a successful career in religious publishing for nearly three decades. In addition to her editorial projects, she has also penned or co-written several books in the religious field. The first was Awaiting the Child: An Advent Journal; three years later she teamed with Ruth Harms Calkin to write a book of advice for adolescents called Letters to Kristi. In 1992 three of Anders's books were published; two of them, The Lord's Prayer: Peace and Self-Acceptance for Those in Recovery and The Lord's Blessings: Hope and Peace for Those in Recovery, were aimed at readers recovering from addiction.

One of Anders's most notable volumes is her 1994 biography of religious writer Hannah Hurnard, titled Standing on High Places: The Story of Hannah Hurnard and "Hinds' Feet on High Places." Anders met Hurnard while working for Tyndale House, a publishing company. That same year Anders wrote a gift book titled A Book of Blessings for Working Mothers. The following year Anders penned The Wisdom of Little Women, a book of quotations from the beloved Louisa May Alcott classic Little Women, arranged by topics such as "work," "friendship," and "femininity."
