Zukerman, Eugenia (née Rich)

Zukerman, Eugenia (née Rich), American flutist; b. Cambridge, Mass., Sept. 25, 1944. She studied flute with Julius Baker at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y (1964-66). In 1970 she won the Young Concert Artists Audition, which resulted in her formal recital debut at Town Hall in N.Y. in 1971; subsequently appeared as a soloist with orchs., as a recitalist, and as a chamber music player. From 1968 to 1985 she was married to Pinchas Zukerman, with whom she often appeared in concerts. She contributed various articles on music to newspapers and journals and appeared as a commentator on music on television; authored a novel deceptively titled Deceptive Cadence (1980).
