Walaciński, Adam

Walaciński, Adam, Polish composer and teacher; b. Kraków, Sept. 18, 1928. He received private instruction in violin from Wactaw Niemczyk (1945-46), and then studied violin with Eugenia Uminska (1947-52) and composition with Artur Malawski (1952) at the State Higher School of Music in Krakow. He then studied composition privately with Stefan Kisielewski, and later completed his training with Bogustaw Schaef-fer at the State Higher School of Music in Krakow (honors degree, 1974). In 1972 he joined its faculty, where he was a prof, (from 1991) and vice-rector (1993-96). In 1966 he received the State Award, 1stClass, in 1976 the City of Krakow Award, and in 1981 the Minister of Culture and Arts Award.
