Stiles Allen, Lilian (b London, 1896; d Tunbridge Wells, 1982). Eng. soprano. Noted for oratorio perfs. but also sang Brünnhilde and other dramatic sop. roles. One of orig. 16 singers in Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music 1938. Teacher after retirement, pupils incl. Julie Andrews, popular mus. comedy and film actress (My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, etc.).
