Reuter, Rolf
Reuter, Rolf , German conductor; b. Leipzig, Oct. 7, 1926. He studied at the Academy for Music and Theater in Dresden. He conducted in Eisenach (1951–55); then was Generalmusikdirektor in Meiningen (1955–61). In 1961 he became a conductor at the Leipzig Opera, and subsequently served as its Generalmusikdirektor (1963–78). He was chief conductor of the Weimar State Orch. (1979–81). From 1981 to 1994 he was chief conductor and music director of the Komische Oper in East Berlin.
