Remington, Emory
Remington, Emory , American trombonist and pedagogue; b. Rochester, N.Y., Dec. 22, 1891; d. there, Dec. 11, 1971. He was a student of Gardell Simons, Edward Llewellyn, and Ernest Williams. From 1922 until his death he taught at the Eastman School of Music in his native city. He also was first trumpeter in the Rochester Phil, from 1923 to 1949. By adopting the larger-bore trombone with F-valve attachment, Remington proved highly influential as a teacher of the instrument.
