Plath, Wolfgang
Plath, Wolfgang , German musicologist; b. Riga, Latvia, Dec. 27, 1930; d. Augsburg, March 19, 1995. He studied musicology at the Free Univ. of Berlin with Gerstenberg, and later at the Univ. of Tübingen (Ph.D., 1958, with the diss. Das Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach). In 1960 he was named co-ed, (with Wolfgang Rehm) of the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe. His studies of Mozart autographs and texts are valuable, and he contributed important articles to the Mozart- Jahrbuch.
