Oldmixon, Mrs. (Georgina née Sidus,)
Oldmixon, Mrs. (Georgina née Sidus) , English-American soprano; b. Oxford, c. 1767; d. Philadelphia, Feb. 3, 1835. She made her debut under the name of Miss George at London’s Haymarket Theatre on June 2, 1783. Following contention with Elizabeth Billington, she settled in the U.S. and became a member of the Wignell and Reinagle enterprise in Philadelphia, where she made her first appearance on May 14, 1793. After a sojourn in N.Y., she returned to Philadelphia, where she gave her farewell performance in a benefit on Feb. 19, 1814. She subsequently ran her own Female Academy.
