Nourrit, Louis

Nourrit, Louis, French tenor, father of Adolphe Nourrit; b. Montpellier, Aug. 4, 1780; d. Brunoy, Sept. 23, 1831. He was a pupil of Garat at the Paris Cons. On March 3, 1805, he made his debut at the Paris Opéra as Renaud in Gluck’s Armide. He sang there regularly thereafter, serving later as its principal tenor from 1812 until his retirement in 1826.
