National Training School of Music. Mus. coll. founded in Kensington, London, 1873 (although the idea originated with Prince Albert, who died in 1861). Opened 1876, with Sullivan as prin., until succeeded by Stainer in 1881. Absorbed in 1882 by Royal College of Music, which opened 1883.
