McCorkle, Donald M(acomber)
McCorkle, Donald M(acomber) , American musicologist; b. Cleveland, Feb. 20, 1929; d. Vancouver, Feb. 6, 1978. He studied at Brown Univ., at Bradley Univ. (B.Mus., 1951), and with W Apel and P. Netti at Ind. Univ. (M.A., 1953; Ph.D., 1958, with the diss. Moravian Music in Salem: A German- American Heritage). He was asst. prof, of musicology at Salem Coll., Winston-Salem, N.C. (1954–64), and also director of the Moravian Music Foundation (1956–64). He then was prof, of musicology at the Univ. of Md. (1964–72), and subsequently a prof, and head of the music dept. at the Univ. of British Columbia (1972–75).
