Marliave, Joseph de

Marliave, Joseph de, French writer on music; b. Toulouse, Nov. 16, 1873; d. (killed in battle) Verdun, Aug. 24, 1914. He wrote a valuable monograph, Les Quatuors de Beethoven (Paris, 1917; reprint, 1925; Eng. tr., London, 1928). He was the husband of Marguerite Long .
