Lidarti, Christian Joseph
Lidarti, Christian Joseph, Austrian composer of Italian descent; b. Vienna, Feb. 23, 1730; d. probably in Pisa, after 1793. He studied at the Cistercian monastery in Klagenfurt and at the Jesuit seminary in Leoben, and then pursued training in philosophy and law at the Univ. of Vienna; he also studied harpsichord and harp but was autodidact in composition. In 1751 he settled in Italy. After completing his studies with Jommelli in Rome (1757), he played in the chapel of the Cavalieri di S. Stefano in Pisa (1757–84?). Among his well-crafted instrumental works were several sonatas and duets.
