Leimer, Kurt
Leimer, Kurt, German-born Austrian pianist, teacher, and composer; b. Wiesbaden, Sept. 7, 1920; d. Vaduz, Liechtenstein, Nov. 20, 1974. He studied piano with his great-uncle Karl Leimer (b. Biebrich, June 22, 1858; d. Wiesbaden, July 19, 1944), W. Horbowski, and Edwin Fischer, and composition with Kurt von Wolfurt. In addition to pursuing a career as a pianist, he taught a master class in piano at the Salzburg Mozarteum (from 1953). In 1956 he became a naturalized Austrian citizen. He composed several works for piano, including 4 concertos (No. 2 for left hand) and some sonatas. His works are in an effective late Romantic style.
