Lebrun, Jean
Lebrun, Jean, famous French horn-player; b. Lyons, April 6, 1759; d. Paris, c. 1809. He went to Paris about 1780 to study with Punto, then made his debut at the Concert Spirituel in 1781. He was first horn in the Paris Opéra orch. (1786–92) and in the Berlin Prussian Court Orch. (from 1792) and also toured in a celebrated duo with Türschmidt until the latter’s death in 1797. He wrote a number of concertos, but they are lost.
