Labatt, Leonard
Labatt, Leonard, Swedish tenor; b. Stockholm, Dec. 4, 1838; d. there, March 7, 1897. He studied with J. Günther, then with Masset in Paris. He made his debut in Stockholm as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (1866). In 1868-69 he was at the Dresden Court Opera, and from 1869 to 1883 at the Vienna Court Opera. He sang in London in 1881, and made an American tour in 1888-89. He was especially fine in Wagnerian roles.
