Karrer, Paul (real name, Paulos Karrerës)
Karrer, Paul (real name, Paulos Karrerës) , Greek composer; b. Zante, May 12, 1829; d. there, April 1, 1896. After studying in Liverpool (1843), he continued his training with Cricca and Maragoni in Zante and Mantzaros in Corfu. He then was active as a music teacher in Zante. With Xyandas, he helped to establish the national Greek opera. He wrote 2 operas on Greek subjects, Marcos Botsaris (1857; Patras, 1861; not extant) and Kyra Frosyni (Zante, 1869). Among his other works were choral pieces and songs.
