Kardos, István

Kardos, István, Hungarian conductor and composer; b. Debrecen, June 6, 1891; d. Budapest, Dec. 22, 1975. He studied composition with Herzfeld at the Budapest Academy of Music, then was a theater conductor in Hungary, Germany, and Switzerland (1917–46). From 1948 to 1959 he taught at the Budapest Academy of Music.
