Hall, Robert Browne
Hall, Robert Browne, American cornetist, bandmaster, and composer; b. Bowdoinham, Maine, June 30, 1858; d. Portland, Maine, June 8, 1907. He began cornet studies in childhood, and after playing in bands in Maine and Boston, he was made director of the Bangor (Maine) Band (1882). He later became director of the Waterville (Maine) Military Band (c. 1890). He wrote a number of marches, which led to his being described as the “New England March King.”
