Graupner, Catherine Comerford
Graupner, Catherine Comerford, English-born American actress and singer; b. c. 1769; d. Boston (buried), May 28, 1821. As the widow Mrs. Hillier, she appeared with a London theater group in Boston in 1794 at the Federal Street Theatre. In 1795 she was engaged at the Charleston, S.C., City Theatre. After her marriage to Gottlieb Graupner in 1796, she appeared regularly with him in Boston from 1797 until her death. She also was active as an actress and made appearances singing in oratorios. On Dec. 25, 1815, she sang in the first performance of the Handel and Haydn Soc.
