Fleming, Shirley (Moragne)
Fleming, Shirley (Moragne), American music critic and editor; b. N.Y., Dec. 2, 1931. She was educated at Smith Coll. in Northampton, Mass. (B.A., 1952; M.A., 1954). She was asst. music ed. of Hi-fi Music at Home (1958–60) and of High Fidelity (1960–64); then was ed. of Musical America (1964–91), and subsequently of the valuable “Music in Concert” section of the expanded American Record Guide (from 1992). She also wrote for other periodicals.
