Feghali, José Brazilian pianist; b. Rio de Janeiro, March 28, 1961. He began piano lessons as a child, appearing for the first time in public when he was only5. At age 8 he was a soloist with the Brazilian Sym. orch. in Rio de Janeiro. In 1976 he went to London to study with Maria Curcio, and then pursued training with Christopher Elton on scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. After capturing 1st prize in the Van Cliburn Competition in Ft. Worth in 1985, he was engaged as a soloist with the world’s principal orchs. and as a recitalist. He also served as artist-in-residence at Tex. Christian Univ. in Ft. Worth.
