Du¨rrner, Ruprecht Johannes Julius
Du¨rrner, Ruprecht Johannes Julius, German conductor and composer; b. Ansbach, Bavaria, July 15, 1810; d. Edinburgh, June 10, 1859. He was a pupil of Friedrich Schneider at Dessau. From 1831 to 1842 he was a cantor at Ansbach, then studied under Mendelssohn and Hauptmann at Leipzig, and settled in Edinburgh as a conductor and vocal teacher. His choruses and quartets for men’s voices won great favor.
