Domgraf-Fassbänder, Willi (b Aachen, 1897; d Nuremberg, 1978). Ger. baritone, father of Brigitte Fassbaender. Operatic début Aachen 1922 as the Count in Le nozze di Figaro. Prin. lyric bar., Berlin State Opera 1928–45. Sang Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at opening night of Glyndebourne Opera, 1934. Salzburg Fest. 1937. Chief producer, Nuremberg Opera, 1953–62. On retirement became dir. of opera studies, Nuremberg Cons.
