Deldevez, Edouard (-Marie-Ernest), French

Deldevez, Edouard (-Marie-Ernest), French conductor and composer; b. Paris, May 31, 1817; d. there, Nov. 6, 1897. He studied violin with Habeneck and music theory with Halévy and Berton at the Paris Cons. He was asst. conductor (1859–73) and then principal (1873–77) conductor at the Paris Opéra, as well as asst. (1860–72) and then principal (1872–75) conductor of the Societe des Concerts du Conservatoire. He taught orch. playing at the Paris Cons. (1874–85).
