Dall’Abaco, Joseph-Marie-Clément

Dall’Abaco, Joseph-Marie-Clément, Italian cellist and composer, son of Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco; b. Brussels (baptized), March 27, 1710; d. Arbizzano di Valpolicella, near Verona, Aug. 31, 1805. He studied with his father. At 19, he entered the service of the electoral chapel in Bonn as a chamber music cellist. In 1738 he was made director of the court orch. In 1740 he visited London, and in 1749 Vienna. In 1766 he was made a baron by the Munich court. Among his works were many cello sonatas.
