Croiza [Conelly], Claire (b Paris, 1882; d Paris, 1946). Fr. mezzo-soprano. Opera début Nancy 1905. Sang for many years at Th. de la Monnaie, Brussels. Paris Opéra début 1908 as Dalila in Samson et Dalila. Taught at École Normale, Paris, from 1922 and at Paris Cons. from 1934, her pupils incl. Souzay and Micheau. Greatly admired by Fr. composers for her sensitive artistry. Sang Angel in Elgar's Dream of Gerontius at f. Paris p. 1906.
