Bâton, Charles, le jeune
Bâton, Charles, le jeune, French vielle (hurdy-gurdy) player and composer; b. Versailles, date unknown; d. Paris, after 1754. He was the son of Henri Bâton, l’aîne (place and date of birth unknown; d. Versailles, c. 1728), the French luthier and musette (bagpipe) and vielle player. Charles continued his father’s efforts in making the musette and vielle concert instruments, and wrote a number of works for them, including suites and sonatas.
