Fine performances in an ultimately depressing drama, with some unexpected twists, focusing on the tragedy of war. When aristocratic Sophia Carey's (Au brey) ancestral home is turned into a private hospital for WWI soldiers, she seriously takes up her nursing duties. One of her latest patients is an amnesiac, initially mute soldier nicknamed Angel (Mavers) by the men who rescued him in France. Sophia falls hopelessly in love with the traumatized Angel but the workingclass Jenny (McGuckin) claims Angel is actually her fiance John and the military police believe he's a deserter wanted for murder. 180m/C VHS, DVD .
