Thunder in the City
Thunder in the City ★★★ 1937
Robinson is an intense American promoter in the sales game who is sent to London by his employers to learn a more subdued way of doing business. Instead, he meets a pair of down-on-their-luck artistocrats whose only asset is an apparently worthless Rhodesian mine. Robinson, however, comes up with a way to promote the mine and get enough capital together to make it profitable. Good satire with Robinson well cast. Robinson wasn't taken with the script in its original form and persuaded his friend, playwright Robert Sherwood, to rewrite it. 85m/B VHS, DVD . GB Edward G. Robinson, Nigel Bruce, Ralph Richardson, Constance Collier; D: Marion Gering; M: Miklos Rozsa.
