Career: Scattergood High School, West Branch, IA, instructor in Spanish, 197478; University of Iowa, Iowa City, teaching assistant, 1979-82, 1984-87, adjunct instructor in Spanish, 1987; Earlham College, Richmond, IN, assistant professor, 1988-94, associate professor of Spanish, 1994-. Official translator for the First International Quaker Women's Conference on Theology at Woodbrooke, England; has done extensive volunteer work as an interpreter and translator for Hispanics and Latin American refugees. Has presented papers at conferences in the United States and Mexico. Publications: The New Narrative of Mexico: Sub-versions of History in Mexican Fiction, 1994.
