Switching Channels ★★½ 1988 (PG)
A modernized remake of “His Girl Friday,” and therefore the fourth version of “The Front Page.” Beautiful TV an-chorwoman (Turner) wants to marry handsome tycoon (Reeve), but her scheming ex-husband (Reynolds) gets in the way. Weak performances from everyone but Beatty and lackluster direction render this off-told story less funny than usual. 108m/C VHS . Burt Reynolds, Kathleen Turner, Christopher Reeve, Ned Beatty, Henry Gibson, George Newbern, Al Waxman, Ken James, Joe Silver, Charles Kimbrough, Tony Rosato; D: Ted Kotcheff; W: Jonathan Reynolds; M: Michel Legrand.
