Social Misfits ★★ 2000

Twelve troubled teenagers, including our narrator Skylar (co-writer Tann), are sent to Camp Resurrection outside Fresno for a weekend of “re-education.” The film claims to be based on events that took place on March 14, 1997, but this alternative boot-camp seems to consist mostly of unsupervised psycho-drama as each of the kids tells his or her story. The whole thing is produced with more enthusiasm than experience or talent. (Note the visible camera shadows.) Production values are minimal but adequate to the subject matter. 91m/C DVD . Boris Cabrera, Le'Mark Cruise, Gabriel Damon, Isait de la Fuente, Ryan Francis, Bev Land, Eric Gray, Paul Gleason, Tyronne Tann; D: Rene Villar-Rios; W: Le'Mark Cruise, Tyronne Tann; C: Eric Leach; M: William Richter.
