Thomas Frank Cherry (Sizemore) is a middle-aged Texan who comes to believe that his father, Bobby Frank Cherry (Jenkins), was one of four KKK members who bombed the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963. Four young black girls were killed in the explosion and the investigation dragged on and off for 38 years. When the investigation is revived once again, Tom decides to give testimony before a grand jury that casts down on his father's original alibi.
