Route 666
Route 666 ★★½ 2001 (R)
Some very slick stylistic touches are brought to this action/horror that aspires to be another “From Dusk Til Dawn.” Marshals Jack (Phillips) and Stephanie (Petty) are escorting a witness to a grand jury in Los Angeles when they become lost on a remote highway. Years ago, a chain gang was murdered there, and they return as inmates of the living dead for revenge. The ultraviolence is silly but some of the visual tricks are pretty cool. 90m/C DVD . Lou Diamond Phillips, Lori Petty, Steven Williams, Dale Midkiff, Alex McArthur, Mercedes Colon, L.Q. Jones; D: William Wesley; W: William Wesley, Thomas N. Weber, Scott Fivelson; C: Philip Lee; M: Terry Plumeri.
