Resident Evil: Extinction ★½ 2007 (R)

Video game franchise trades claustrophobic underground sets for “Road Warrior” style wasteland, but star Jovovich is stuck battling the same old zombies. This time super-powered Alice meets up with a convoy of refugees led by Larter and Fehr, trying to stay one step ahead of the zombie virus. Between the zombies and the evil corporation that created them, there's not much hope that they'll make it to safety unscathed. Instead, they must make a stand in a mostly sand-buried Las Vegas (created by Oscar-winning production designer Caballero). Short on originality, the movie depends on its mostly dull action scenes and its franchise status to keep viewers interested. 94m/C DVD, Blu-ray Disc . CA GB Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Ali Larter, Iain Glen, Ashanti, Christopher Egan, Spencer Locke, Matthew Mardsen, Linden Ashby, Mike Epps, Jason O'Mara; D: Russell Mulcahy; W: Paul W.S.
