The Private Secretary
The Private Secretary ★½ 1935
Horton is a mildmannered clergyman who finds out his identity has been usurped by a young man with a great many angry creditors. Horton has some amusing comic bits but the film, based on a popular Victorian farce “Der Bibliotheker” by Van Moser, did not translate well to the screen. 70m/B VHS . GB Edward Everett Horton, Barry Mackay, Oscar Asche, Judy Gunn, Michael Shepley, Alastair Sim; D: Henry Edwards.
