One-Eyed Jacks
One-Eyed Jacks ★★★½ 1961
An often engaging, but lengthy, psychological western about an outlaw who seeks to settle the score with a former partner who became a sheriff. Great acting by all, particularly Brando, who triumphed both as star and director. Stanley Kubrick was the original director, but Brando took over mid-way through the filming. The photography is wonderful and reflects the effort that went into it. 141m/C VHS, DVD . Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Katy Jurado, Elisha Cook Jr., Slim Pickens, Ben Johnson, Pina Pellicer, Timothy Carey; D: Marlon Brando; W: Calder Willingham; C: Charles B(ryant) Lang Jr.
