The Omen 2006
The Omen ★★½ 2006 (R)
Robert Thorn (Schreiber), American ambassador to England, adopts an orphaned newborn after his own son dies, without telling his fragile wife Katherine (Stiles). Damien (newcomer Davey-Fitzpatrick) grows into a spooky little boy looked after by overprotective nanny Mrs. Baylock (Farrow). Sinister happenings lead Thorn to believe he's raising the antichrist. The remake uses the same screenwriter—David Seltzer—as the 1976 original with some modest updates so nothing's very surprising. But it's still pretty scary (and bloody). 110m/C DVD, Blu-ray Disc . US Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, Mia Farrow, David Thewlis, Pete Post-lethwaite, Michael Gambon, Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick; D: John Moore; W: David Seltzer; C: Jonathan Sela; M: Marco Beltrami.
