Lush Life
Lush Life ★★★ 1994 (R)
New York jazz session musicians Al (Goldblum) and Buddy (Whitaker) roam the city's musical scene until dawn, on the prowl for food, women, and ever more music. When trumpeter Buddy is diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, saxophonist Al decides on a grand final gesture—a Park Avenue farewell bash, though no one is to know just how final the farewell is to be. Great jazz soundtrack, fine acting, and atmospheric use of the Big Apple. And it avoids overt tearjerking. 96m/C VHS . Jeff Goldblum, Forest Whitaker, Kathy Baker, Lois Chiles, Don Cheadle; D: Michael Elias; W: Michael Elias. CABLE
