Scotty Corrigan (Scott) discovers a love letter in the antique desk he's purchased, written by Lizzie Whitcomb (Leigh) who lived during the Civil War. Haunted, Scotty decides to reply to the missive and, magically, Lizzie receives his letter. Soon, they not only have a regular correspondence but a romance that transcends time.
