Gothika ★½ 2003 (R)
Prison psychiatrist Dr. Miranda Grey (Berry) veers off the road after seeing an apparition and wakes up three days later in her own mental ward accused of killing her husband (Dutton). Flimsy plot is further hampered by the film's indecision as to whether to be a ghost story or woman-wrongfully-accused yarn. The most perplexing part is trying to figure out why such good actors agreed to be in it. 95m/C VHS, DVD, Blu-ray Disc, HD DVD . US Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., Charles S. Dutton, Penelope Cruz, John Carroll Lynch, Bernard Hill, Dorian Harewood, Bronwen Mantel, Kathleen Mackey; D: Mathieu Kassovitz; W: Sebastian Gutierrez; C: Matthew Libatique; M: John Ottman.
