Frankie and Johnny ★ 1936
Based on the song of the same name, famed torch singer Morgan portrays a singer in a bordello who shoots her unfaithful lover. Release was delayed two years by the Hays Office's intervention in how a house of prostitution could be portrayed on screen. Too bad they reached an agreement. Not even Morgan's rendition of the title song redeems this. 68m/B VHS . Helen Morgan, Chester Morris; D: Chester Erskine.
